Coastal Garden
This contemporary native Australian garden is set amid remnant tea tree woodland on the Mornington Peninsula. The brief included the design of a plunge pool with a sheer edge, from which the clients could feel totally immersed in the indigenous coastal landscape. The circular motif of the pool is reflected in the curves of the timber walkway, and the fire circle. Both walkway and pool deck are elevated to convey a sense of floating in this landscape, and the timbers are all greying off to marry with the ageless trunks of the very sculptural tea trees.
Expert plant design using indigenous coastal plants blended with other drought tolerant plants has meant that this young garden has established quickly and without any casualties.
