Memorial Garden
This was a special project - a garden dedicated to the memory of a much loved teacher at a school in Essendon.
It was clear from the start that water, as a metaphor for life, continuity and hope, must play a significant role in this garden. However, open water, in a school, is not desirable!
The large rock, from a quarry out of Castlemaine, was drilled vertically to allow water from a subsurface reservoir to trickle over its faces.
Pebble work in the surrounding concrete paving serves as a metaphor for water.
